Watching Out for False Thinking

If you’re going to succeed, you can’t go through life on cruise control. If you’re going to win in battle, you must stay alert to the schemes of the enemy.

We’re at war, and our foe is smarter and wiser than we are. Satan makes the worst idea appear to be reasonable, even good. Every guy who has been conned by the enemy has fallen for that kind of false thinking: "It really won’t hurt anyone if I sleep with this woman.”. . . “Getting a divorce really won’t hurt my kids. Kids are resilient, aren’t they?” . . . “Well, everybody fudges on their taxes . . .” That’s making what is worst for us appear to be okay. Falling for this kind of reasoning will keep you from finishing well in the Christian life.

We’re in a battle, my friend, and the stakes are incredibly high. Be wise to the schemes of the enemy and keep your eyes fixed on the One who gives us victory.

Defining a Leader

One of the best definitions of a leader I’ve ever heard was also one of the shortest.  A leader is someone who leads.  That’s it.  That’s all of it.  But don’t let the simplicity fool you.  Quite frankly, it’s profound.  Just because you have a title of leadership doesn’t mean that you are a leader.  And gentlemen, Christian leadership is giving your best without having to be first.  That hits us right between the eyes.

You know, one of the biggest problems with reading the Bible, is that every time I crack it open I keep getting the idea, God wants me to change.  I keep getting the idea that He wants to conform me into the image of Christ.  And believe me, that’s going to require a lot of change.  God wants me to lead like Jesus.
