Opportunity

I turned down an invitation to speak in Australia for a month. It was an opportunity to address Christian men about the importance of discipling their families. What a great opportunity! Then why did I turn it down, especially since I’ve always wanted to go to Australia? Well, it’s simple. I couldn’t take my family with me. I was invited to come in March, when my kids are in school. I find it ironic to think that I would go to Australia and leave my own family in order to instruct other men in how they can disciple their families. I’m sorry, but that doesn’t add up to me.

If God should call you to use your gifts and abilities in another country and culture, then I’d go for it. But don’t go by yourself. Don’t let the Enemy sucker you into neglecting your family. It’s one of his all time favorite schemes. Don't fall for it!
