Australia! Australia!

Some time ago I turned down an invitation to speak in Australia for a whole month. It was an opportunity to address Christian men about the importance of discipling their families. What a great opportunity!

Then why did I turn it down, especially since I’ve always wanted to go to Australia? Well it’s simple, I couldn’t take my family with me. They invited me to come in March when my kids are in school. I found it ironic that I should go to Australia and leave my own family in order to instruct other men in how they can disciple their families. When I stopped and thought about it, I simply could not justify the trip.

If God should call you to use your gifts and abilities in another country and culture, then I’d go for it. But don’t go by yourself. Don’t let the enemy sucker you into neglecting your family. It’s one of his all time favorite methods for dividing your family.

Barbarians!

God gave King David an army of mighty warriors to protect Israel. Who did the Lord need to protect his chosen people from? Barbarians. They completely encircled the people of Israel. The threat to King David and God's people was obvious.

As believers in a Living God, we're surrounded by barbarians this very day, only the barbarians in our culture don't look like barbarians. And that's why we need discernment. I've encountered well dressed, articulate people who are sometimes even well meaning with their beliefs. Unfortunately they are often barbarians, determined to attack and subvert the godly principles and beliefs I and my family hold dear.

Gentlemen, God's truth is under assault in our generation more than ever before. We are the army of mighty warriors God is depending upon to protect His people. Just like David's army, it's up to us to defend the enemy's assault.

What's relative?

Whether we like it or not, our children are being raised in the sewer of moral relativism!

No matter what we try to teach and model for our kids, they are constantly exposed to a relativistic philosophy where there is no absolute truth and everything is permitted. We must live out what we believe so our kids can witness the courage of our convictions. If we don't, the magazines, music and media that bombard us with the message of moral relativism will simply sink in and seduce us before we know it.

I believe young people are the specific targets of these media messages. The days when the media would back up wholesome, Christian values have faded into history like the old Studebaker. Culture is no longer a reflection of how to live a peaceful and loving life, informed by Scriptural imperatives. A flood of hedonistic pleasure seeking now threatens to sweep us all into the sewers, unless we fight against it. Let's do something about this and make a difference!

Leading at home

If a man isn't a leader anywhere else in his life, he must be a leader at home.

That's an order that comes straight from the Lord. All believers are called to be salt and light, yet a society without strong male leadership is doomed. I'm not talking about strong male leadership at the capitol building, as important as that may be. Without male leadership in the family, we are one generation away from anarchy in the streets. Much of the turmoil and violence plaguing our society directly results from the absence of a strong male presence in the home.

Christian families with a strong male leader, might be our last hope. No child ever turned to a life of crime or cruelty because he, or she, grew up in the presence of a loving and effective father and husband. When husbands and fathers lead the way they should lead, their families grow stronger. When families grow stronger, society as a whole gets better. It all begins with a strong male leader in the home.

The new SteveFarrar.com

Welcome to our new website design!

Some of you will notice that it has been given a face-lift and a shot of Rogaine. But it’s not about how it looks—it’s about dispensing truth. America is in trouble. Our families are in trouble. That’s why God is doing a great work among men who want their lives to count for eternity.

God loves to build men from the inside out so that they can make a difference at their assigned posts. It’s my great privilege to help equip men to become spiritual leaders in their homes, churches, and communities. For close to twenty years I have been speaking, writing books, and using video to get the message out to men. I will continue to do all of those things, but we are also going to add the web to our delivery system.

So, check back with us on a regular basis. We’ll try to keep it interesting. But most of all we’ll keep it truthful by focusing on Christ and His word. That’s the only solution for staying out of trouble.
